Different Ways to Volunteer

 

There are many ways you can help RDA. Below is a list of generic roles we have and a short description. This list is by no means exhaustive. Individual Groups may have other roles on offer.
 
The most vital role any volunteer can have within RDA is as a session helper. All RDA Groups require volunteers on hand throughout sessions – without these volunteers RDA could not operate.
 

RDA Group:

Role
Description
Est. Time Commitment
Session Volunteer
Providing support to riders/drivers through leading horses, side walking, aiding mounting etc
Variable 1 hr/week mostly during term time
Trustee
Overall responsibility for the operation of the Group
3 – 4 hrs/month
Volunteer Co-ordinator
Coordinating other volunteers within the Group
1 – 2 hrs/week
Fundraiser (where available)
Help the Group to raise funds to aid the running of the Group
3 – 4 hrs/month
Website Manager
Maintenance of Group’s websites
1 – 2 hrs/month
Session Organiser
Coordinate volunteers, horses, riders/drivers for sessions
1 – 2 hrs/week
PR volunteer (where available)
Liaise with the local media to promote the Group to increase funds and volunteers
1 -2 hrs/month
Coach
Instruct sessions and ensure safe practice during sessions – volunteers doing this will need to achieve a qualification, for which we provide all the training
1 – 2 hrs/week
 
 
 

RDA National (County Level):

County Chairman
Deal with enquires from potential riders/drivers/volunteers. Support Groups in County

County Instructor
Support Group coaches
4 hrs/week
County Holiday Rep
Coordinate Group and County holidays and liaise with riders over National holidays
Seasonal 1 hr/month
County Physiotherapist
Provide advice and support for other physios. In your area
1 – 2hrs/month
 
 
 

RDA National (Regional Level):

Regional Publicity Officer
Liaise with Regional media outlets to promote RDA within the Region
1hr/week
Regional Instructor
Support County Coaches and carry out inspections
4hrs/week
Regional Physiotherapist
Provide advice and support for other physios in your area
1 – 2hrs/month
Regional Carriage Driving Representative
Support Carriage Driving Groups in the area and co-ordinate inspections
1 – 2hrs/month
Regional Chairman
Support Groups and officials in the area and deal with enquires from both within RDA and externally
4-5hrs/week
Regional Treasurer
Manage the Regional accounts and complete the necessary annual and quarterly returns
1 hr/week
Regional Secretary
Coordinate Regional meeting and record those meetings as appropriate
2hrs/month
Regional Fundraiser
Help the Region raise funds and organise events to promote RDA
1hr/week
Regional Vet
Provide support and advice on equine health and welfare
1hr/month
 
 
 

RDA National:

Provide support and guidance within the field of expertise
